Welcome to my little web server!
This web page is intended to be more or less a holding page for when I have nothing more interesting to host. This is a lighttpd web server running on a small Linux box I use as my test system.
As it looks like 2012 is going to be a year of tight budgets, I hope it
might serve as an inspiration and example of what can be done very
cheaply and with quite old, modestly specified hardware. If you
have an old PC or laptop lying around and wish you had a new one, don't
go buying something when you could use the money for something
else. Explore your alternatives!
My little server is currently running openSUSE 11.4 following a hard
disk upgrade. The old one failed... I chose to try
openSUSE because the first Linux distro I ever used was a SuSE 7.1
retail boxed set. Suffice to say, if you're reading this then my
return to openSUSE after years of Debian based systems is going
well! (I'm not abandoning Debian, Mepis is still running on my
main PC!)
